FUNCTIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS OF IMPE QUY NHON
A. Functions: The Institute has the functions of conducting scientific research into malaria, parasitic diseases and vector-borne diseases, and providing specialist guidance on the control of these diseases in 15 provinces, of which 11 are in coastal areas, from Quang Binh to Binh Thuan and 4 in the Central Highlands: Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak and Dak Nong. B. Assignments and Activities: 1. Scientific Research : Conducting research into malaria, parasitic diseases and vector-borne diseases, and developing approaches to the control of these diseases. 2. Line Management: Assisting the Ministry of Health in managing and providing instituional, professional, technical and planning guidelines for the control of malaria, parasitic diseases and vector-borne diseases in 11 coastal provinces, from Quang Binh to Binh Thuan, and 4 provinces of Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak and Dak Nong in the Central Highlands. 3. Mass Communication and Health Education: Undertaking the programmes of mass communication and health education in connection with pathogenic agents, hazardous effects caused by malaria, parasitic diseases and vector-borne diseases, and the measures to be taken for the control of these diseases. 4. Training: Providing technical training at the levels of secondary, associate college, university, post-graduate, retraining and advanced training for executive and technical staff in collaboration with the relevant training and educational institutions. 5. International Cooperation: Establishing the relations of cooperation and collaboration in scientific research, training and project participation with the relevant research institutes, government agencies and non-governmental organizations of the region and the world in connection with malaria, parasitic diseases and vector-borne diseases. 6. Management of Resources. Managing and using the available resources effectively, and rendering scientific and technological service. Formulating projects at national and international levels. Receiving, managing and distributing funds, medicine/drug, insecticide, medical equipment and supplies to the target localities under the jurisdiction of the Institute.
