New WHO Viet Nam Representative presents credentials
Dr Lokky Wai, the World Health Organization Representative (WHO) to Viet Nam presented his credentials to Mr Ha Kim Ngoc, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam. Dr Wai assumes role of WHO Representative to Viet Nam
Dr Lokky Wai assumed his role as the WHO Representative on the 3rd of August 2015. Dr Wai brings with him a range of experience within WHO and in Viet Nam. He was Management Officer at the Office of the Director-General at WHO Headquarters in Geneva from May 2013 to July 2015. Prior to this, Dr Wai was Senior Programme Management Officer and Team Leader for noncommunicable diseases in Viet Nam from January 2005, and Programme Development and Operations Officer at WHO's Western Pacific Regional Office from March 2010. "I'm very pleased with the cooperation between WHO and the Government of Viet Nam. WHO has supported the Ministry of Health for many decades. We will continue to support the Ministry of Health across a range of health issues, including health system strengthening, Universal Health Coverage and noncommunicable diseases" said Dr Wai.

Mr. Ha Kim Ngoc, in welcoming Dr Wai, said that he looked forward to further collaboration with WHO particularly on hospital reform, improving quality of services and also on other health issues such as the regulation on the use of chemicals and environmental health.
