IMPE-Quy Nhon holds the conference on preliminary summing-up of assignment in the first 6 months of 2014 and launching the workplan of the last 6 months of 2014

On 4th July, 2014, the IMPE-Quy Nhon organized the conference o­n preliminary summing-up of assignment in the first 6 months of 2014 and launching the workplan of the last 6 months of 2014.

 

Participants to the workshop included Dr. Nguyen Van Chuong, Director of IMPE-Quy Nhon, Assoc.Prof Trieu Nguyen Trung, former director; Dr. Huynh Hong Quang, vice-director; Mr. Vo Tri Dung, vice-director, MSc. Ho Dac Thoan, the chairman of Trade Union of IMPE-Quy Nhon, together with heads of departments and all staff members of IMPE-Quy Nhon.

The conference listened the report o­n summing up activities in the first 6 months of 2014 and deploying the workplan of last 6 months of 2014, which was presented by Dr. Nguyen Van Chuong. The report reviewed partially the malaria situation of the Central Vietnam in the first 5 months of 2014. The region had 3.429 cases of malaria morbidity, 15 cases of severe and complicated malaria and 1 malaria deaths. Compared with the same period of 2013, the malaria cases decreased by 29.09%, severe and complicated malaria cases reduced by 25%. The Institute leadership has frequently directed surveillance activities, deployed control activites of vector-borne diseases, organised health communication and education according to the plan,so the Institute achieved the given targets.

Moreover, IMPE-QN has strengthened the direction, monitoring and surveillancefor malaria control activities annually, such as deploying epidemiological surveillance missions, enhancing the quality of spraying indoor measures, strengthening the quality of diagnosis, treatment and management of patients of health network at all levels. Besides, the Institute has also supported severely-hit areas, areas with increased rate of malaria morbidity and risk of malaria outbreak. In the first 6 months of 2014, control activites for parasitic and vector-borne diseases achieved encouraged results, deworming activities for pupils of primary schools, health communication and education o­n helminthiasis control; in addition, the Institute gave support of techniques, equipment and materials to the intestinal parasitological laboratories of the provincial centres of malaria control/preventive medicine.

In the first 6 months of 2014, there were 31,504 patients coming the Institute clinic to seek diagnosis and treatment for Fascioliasis, Toxocara canis, Gnathostoma stercoralis, Strongyloides stercoralis, Taenia solium, Amoebiasis and other diseases. The clinic always attaches special importance to enhancing the quality of examination and treatment, creating the trust of the patients in the region and the whole country and increasing the prestige of Institute clinic.

Besides, by the end of June 2014, the total number of Institute personnel was 198, including 122 official staff members, 76 of labor contract. The staff qualifications: 34 post-graduates (01 Assoc.Prof, 05 PhD, 27 MSc., 01 MD. level II specialization), 87 graduates, 63 secondary trainings and 15 other staff members. The staff have heightened the sense of solidarity, strived to work efficiently and creatively to superbly fulfill the delegated missions according to the given plan. The staff of the Institute will continue to strive and complete their assignments in the last 6 months of 2014.

MSc. Ho Dac Thoan, Chairman of the Trade Union of IMPE-Quy Nhon reported the activities of trade union in the first 6 months of 2013 and deployed the workplan for the last 6 months of 2014; besides, he also launched the emulation movement and disseminated the implementing rules of the "Study and follow Ho Chi Minh's moral example" for the staff. Especially, the Trade Union of the Institute organised successfully the launching campaign of voluntary blood donation with the message "Connecting Vietnamese bloodstream" of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, the Ministry of Health. There were more than 150 staff members and students participating the blood donation. The blood units were tested and selected, 94 units of blood reached the donation standard.

The workshop also listened the financial report of the first 6 months of 2014, which was presented by Mr. Vo Tri Dung, vice-director. The report showed that the Institute had the good financial management, ensured proper receipts and expenses.

In the workshop, MA. Dao Ngoc Trung, Head of Department of Organization and Personnel, launched the Circular No. 07/2014/TT-BYT of the Ministry of Health o­n the Code of Conduct of civil servants, employees and workers at health facilities.

Before the conference ended, MA. Dao Ngoc Trung announced the decisions o­n the appointment to head and vice-heads of departments and the decisions of the Ministry of Health o­n the rewards for the departments and individuals in the first 6 months of 2014.
