In October 2018, the World Health Organization announced that Vietnam has successfully eliminated lymphatic filariasis as a public health problem. on January 17, the Government of Vietnam held a celebration in Hanoi to commemorate the elimination of lymphatic filariasis as a public health problem.
With financial support of World Health Organization (WHO), the National institute of Malariology, Parasitology and Entomology (NIMPE) and the Institute of Malariology, Parasitology and Entomology Quy nhon (IMPE-QN) coordinated to hold the workshop "Training on Malaria Elimination for leaders of Centers for Disease Control/ Preventive Medicine/ Malaria Control in Central region and West-Highlands"
On 12th and 13th December 2017, the IMPE-Quy Nhon held the workshop on "Assessment of malaria elimination results and surveillance system in Central Vietnam in 2017."
According to the department, from October 30-November 5, as many as 2,744 dengue cases were reported across the country, down 17.9 percent over the previous week, without fatality.
