A 38-year-old female patient in Ha Noi visited Medlatec General Hospital for a routine check-up and was unexpectedly found to have a parasitic infection requiring immediate treatment to prevent complications. Patients are often shocked to learn that such diseases can stem from daily habits that many people inadvertently maintain today.

On June 5-6, 2024, the joint working group from the Institute of Malariology, Parasitology, and Entomology Quy Nhon (IMPE-QN) and the World Health Organization (WHO) office in Viet Nam visited and worked at the Institute and local health units in Khanh Hoa Province. The purpose of these visits and meetings was to assess the malaria situation and discuss the most proactive malaria prevention activities amidst the increasing and fluctuating malaria cases in Khanh Vinh District, Khanh Hoa Province, which pose a risk of spreading to other provinces through malaria vectors and mobile populations.

Scientific research is a field that demands numerous qualities and perseverance, even for those with great passion. Professor Albert P. Pisano, Co-chair of the VinFuture Prize Pre-Screening Committee and Dean of the Jacobs School of Engineering at the University of California, San Diego, USA, stated, 'Eliminate your fear of being a woman; it will be a powerful inner strength that makes a difference in scientific research organizations,' encouraging female professionals to persist o­n the path of scientific research.

To obtain the latest information regarding the malaria situation in Central Vietnam and identify obstacles and complexities in malaria control and elimination efforts, a joint mission to Gia Lai province was undertaken o­n May 08-09, 2023. This collaborative site visit involved the Institute of Malariology, Parasitology, and Entomology Quy Nhon (IMPE-QN) and the World Health Organization (WHO) Representative's Office in Thailand, Switzerland, and Viet Nam.

In order to evaluate the results of malaria control in the past time and orient the plan for future malaria elimination efforts, o­n December 20, 2022, Institute of Malariology, Parasitology, and Entomology Quy Nhon (IMPE-QN) held the conference to review malaria control and elimination in Central Vietnam 2022 in Hue city, Thua Thien Hue province.
