Phần 1: Cập nhật thông tin nghiên cứu về thiếu men glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) với sốt rét và một số bệnh lý khác

            Trong tiến trình tiến tới phòng chống & loại trừ sốt rét trên thế giới cũng như tại Việt Nam, trong đó không kể đến việc loại trừ loài ký sinh trùng có chu kỳ sinh học và phát triển đặc biệt là Plasmodium vivax, vì khó khăn trong diệt trừ thể ẩn hay thể ngủ trong gan. Hơn nữa, theo khuyến cáo của Tổ chức Y tế thế giới và Bộ Y tế Việt Nam là phải dùng liệu trình dài 14 ngày của thuốc primaquine phosphate để diệt giao bào chống lây lan và diệt thể ẩn chống tái phát xa, nhằm tiến tới loại trừ sốt rét tốt nhất.

Tuy nhiên, khi áp dụng liệu trình dài ngày như vậy, không những khó đạt được sự chấp thuận và tuân thủ dùng thuốc của bệnh nhân sốt rét mà còn có thể có nguy cơ gây tán huyết trên các bệnh nhân vốn dĩ có cơ địa thiếu men G6PD. Do vậy, trong thời gian đến nếu việc nghiên cứu thuốc Tafenoquine có kết quả tốt, có thể đưa vào điều trị như một thuốc thay thế cho primaquine phosphate. Các nghiên cứu từ năm 1974 đến 2017 đã được cập nhật và công bố được chia sẻ dưới đây:
