The Institute has the functions of conducting scientific research into malaria, parasitic diseases and vector-borne diseases, and providing specialist guidance o­n the control of these diseases in 15 provinces, of which 11 are in coastal areas, from Quang Binh to Binh Thuan and 4 in the Central Highlands
