Swedish delegation visits IMPE-Quy Nhon
In the afternoon of May 24, 2016, the Institute of Malariology, Parasitology and Entomology Quy Nhon (IMPE-Quy Nhon) gave a warm welcome to the Swedish students, who arrived in Vietnam under the student exchange programme in Global Health within the cooperation between HaNoi Medical University and Karolinska Institutet (Sweden). This is the second time IMPE-Quy Nhon has received the Swedish delegation according to the suggestion of the Provincial People's Committee of Binh Dinh.
The Institute representatives welcoming the study delegation of 31 students (21 Swedish students and 10 Vietnamese students) included Dr. Huynh Hong Quang-Deputy Director and the staff of International Cooperation Department (ICD). Beginning the meeting, on behalf of the Institute leadership, Dr. Tran Minh Quy - head of ICD welcomed the delegation to the IMPE-Quy Nhon and introduced the participants to the meeting. Then, Dr. Huynh Hong Quang delivered overall introduction of functions, responsibilities and scientific research work of the Institute, especially activities of controlling malaria, other parasitic and vector-borne diseases which make the Swedish medical students (from a temperate country) really amused. The representative of Hanoi Medical University said her thank-you to Dr. Quang for his presentation and introduced the purposes, significance and work program of this study tour to Vietnam, specifically Binh Dinh province. Under the guidance of Dr. Huynh Hong Quang-Deputy Director and the staff of ICD, the students were showed around the specialised clinic with medical examination area in the 1st floor and laboratory examination area in the 2nd floor. In the laboratory examination area, the delegation were led to the esample processing laboratory, immunological laboratory, and biochemical-hematology laboratory, etc. Here, the students had a direct view of how the technicians operating the most modern equipments of a regional specialised clinic. The students also visited the medical examination area where they learn about the activities of diagnosis and treatment of parasite-infected patients. After visiting the clinic, in the discussion, the students also showed interest in the matters pertaining to malariology, parasitology and entomology in Central Vietnam; local epidemics; the Institute human resources and medical equipments; the cooperation between the Institute and international organizations & NGOs; medical diagnosis and treatment of malaria, other parasitic and vector-borne diseases, healthcare and medical insurance at the Institute specialised clinic, and so on. All these questions are answered in a clear, friendly and satisfactory manner by Dr. Huynh Hong Quang.

At the end of the visit, the delegation representative thanked the leadership of IMPE-Quy Nhon for sentimental reception and hoped for many collaborative opportunities in the future. Some Swedish students also expressed their willingness to conduct post-graduate studies at IMPE-Quy Nhon.
