Sốt rét- bệnh vua của các loại bệnh (king of diseases) quả không sai với ý niệm có từ xa xưa như thế về mặt dịch tễ học, biểu hiện bệnh và thay đổi sinh lý, sinh lý bệnh và đáp ứng điều trị với các thuốc sốt rét từ cổ điển đến các thuốc hiện đại gần đây thay đổi rất nhiều và nhất là tình hình thất bại điều trị (treatment failure) hoặc kháng với một số thuốc do ký sinh trùng sốt rét P. falciparum và P. vivax đã dẫn đến nhiều vấn đề cần thiết phải giải quyết cho các nàh khoa học hàng ngày. Cũng chính vì lý do nhiều vấn đề chưa lý giải hết trong các cơ chế cũng như mưu cầu trong việc tìm kím một thuốc mới hoặc phát triển một phối hợp thuốc dựa trên nền các thuốc đã cũ nhưng còn hiệu quả đã kích thích càng nhà khoa học trên toàn thế giới cho ra các sản phẩm của mình góp phần làm thay đổi và nâng cao sức khỏe nhân loại, nhất là các quần thể dân đang sống trong vùng sốt rét. Kết quả của các công trình của họ được đăng tải lên các trang điện tử và tạp chí chuyên ngành từng giờ và từng ngày.
